2011 ITS Minnesota Scholarship

ITS Minnesota is proud to announce up to two undergraduate scholarships of $1000 per scholarship and up to  two graduate student awards of $1500 per award.  The competition is open to all undergraduate and graduate students respectively in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Iowa.

             Intelligent Transportation Systems, or ITS, encompass a broad range of wireless and wire-line communications-based information, control and electronics technologies. When integrated into the transportation system infrastructure, and in vehicles themselves, these technologies help monitor and manage traffic flow, reduce congestion, provide alternate routes to travelers, enhance productivity, and save lives, time and money.

For undergraduate student scholarship:

The purpose is to reward exceptional students interested in the transportation industry and intelligent transportation systems. And applications will be evaluated on the following criteria. 

           1.) Academic Achievement

           2.) Work Experience/Volunteer Work

           3.) Student Activities

           4.) Interest in/understanding of ITS

            5.) Career Goals and Objectives

Applicants need to submit application to Shawn Haag at (see attachments 1 for application form).

For graduate award:

The award is based on ITS related work, and may comprise a paper, project, or research work done by the student.                                                        .

Applicants need to submit a cover letter, one-page resume, and copy of the paper, project, or research to Shawn Haag at

Both Applications are due on Friday, February 4, 2011.

A committee designated by the ITS Minnesota Board of Directors will select award recipients. Recipients will be recognized at the University of Minnesota ITSO Student Paper Conference Awards Luncheon on in early March (date TBD). Awards will be presented the ITS Minnesota Annual Meeting on March 8, 2011 (see for details). ITS Minnesota will provide complimentary registration for recipients to attend the ITS Minnesota Annual Meeting.
